Meet Cinnamon and Nutmeg, a pair of timid kittens whose lives took a delightful turn after being rescued by the Winston Memorial Foundation in Kuwait.
When they first arrived, Cinnamon, the brown tabby, was especially frightened. Hissing, spitting, and finding refuge in any available nook, she made it clear she needed time to trust her new surroundings.
“They weren’t socialized and were quite spicy but slowly warmed up in their new foster home with time,” shared Laila D’Souza, the founder of the rescue.
Laila, determined to win Cinnamon over, offered a smidgen of food on her fingers. Initially resistant, Cinnamon couldn’t resist the enticing smell and began lapping the food off Laila’s hand. With nourishment and a cozy nest, the kittens soon transformed into affectionate, confident snuggle-bugs.
Cinnamon, once a scaredy cat, turned into a chatty attention-seeker, demanding pets and snuggles. Her brother, Nutmeg, happily followed suit.
Meanwhile, a message about a smokey grey kitten named Edward, found wandering a busy street, tugged at Laila’s heartstrings. Despite his rough start, Edward’s gratitude shone through when Laila gave him chin scratches.
“He would pounce on my lap before getting his zoomies. He got so lonely when I was not around, and meowed constantly,” Laila shared.
Recognizing Edward’s need for companionship, Laila introduced him to Cinnamon and Nutmeg. The trio quickly bonded, playing and romping around as if Edward had always been part of the gang.
“When he met Cinnamon and Nutmeg, he was so happy to finally have friends to chase around and play with. He felt less alone and loved being around them,” said Laila.
Now major squeakers and purr machines, the kittens, including Edward, are thriving and will soon embark on a journey to the US to find their forever homes.
“Little Edward isn’t so little any more. His coat has changed (into a darker shade) and his personality bloomed,” Laila added.
With a second chance at life, these kittens are relishing each day, curious about their surroundings, and soaking up all the love and attention they can get.
