Do you love cats? Well, guess what? You’re not alone!
Cat lovers are taking over the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia!
That’s right, according to the latest U.S. Census figures, Philly has the highest percentage of cat parents in the top 15 largest metro areas in the country!
Over 568,000 households in the Philly area have a feline friend, which is a whopping 23 percent! Seattle comes in second at 22 percent, but we all know Philly is the real winner.
So, what makes Philly so appealing to cat lovers? Some people think it’s because cats are a cultural thing here. In Italy, public cats are taken care of, and they’re a part of everyday life. Philly has a large Italian population, so it’s possible that this tradition has carried over to the city’s love of cats.
Others believe that Philly’s nonconformist attitude has something to do with it. After all, this city was the birthplace of the American Revolution, and it’s home to some pretty opinionated freethinkers. And let’s face it, cat parents tend to have similar traits according to some studies.
But whatever the reason, Philly is definitely the place to be if you’re a cat lover. The city is home to many cat rescues and local rescuers who take care of stray cats and colonies. So, if you’re a cat parent looking to move, Philly might just be the purrfect place for you!
And let’s not forget the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. I mean, come on, who wouldn’t want to live in a city that has such delicious food and a love for cats? Philly, we salute you!
