You know how some cat owners understand that their cats are the rulers of the household? Well, that’s definitely the case for Nanoos and her family.
Nanoos, a spirited orange cat, seems to despise pretty much everyone, especially kids.
Nanoos’ mom, Reem Mohammad, shared with us in 2022, “My cat hates everyone. She hates humans. She hates other animals. She hates me. She hates everything that essentially breathes.”
But out of all the things Nanoos dislikes, kids top the list. Mohammad believes it’s because of their innocence and happiness, which Nanoos just can’t stand.
However, there is one person who manages to soften Nanoos’ heart—her grandfather. Mohammad is baffled as to why her grumpy cat chose to shower all her affection on her dad, but their bond is undeniable.
“The one person that she loves would be my dad,” Mohammad revealed. “I have no idea why, but he just happens to be that one person.”
When we caught up with Mohammad and Nanoos a year later, Mohammad mentioned that Nanoos has actually mellowed out a bit and has a less sour attitude.
“Nanoos’ behavior is somewhat the same, but there’s still been so much progress that has been made!” Mohammad shared. “With the help of [cat behaviorist] Jackson Galaxy and following his advice, we’ve seen positive changes. I engage in playtime with her more often. Although she doesn’t always play back, there are times when she does, which is great! I can even hold her occasionally without getting scratched or bitten!”
Despite the progress, granddad remains Nanoos’ favorite human. However, her grudge against kids remains unshakable. “Kids will always be her enemy,” Mohammad admitted.
Maybe one day Nanoos will realize that snuggles and kisses aren’t so terrible. But for now, she’s perfectly content with biting, scratching, and keeping her family on their toes—and fortunately, they love her just the way she is.
