Just last month, the Millstone Wildlife Center in New Hampshire received a distress call about an abandoned baby bobcat in need of urgent rescue.

Luckily, the 6-week-old kitten was deemed healthy upon examination, but her little heart was breaking from the separation from her mom. The poor thing cried out in sorrow and loneliness.

The resourceful rescuers quickly reached out to Spicy Cats, an amazing organization known for rehabilitating feral felines. Among their fabulous feline residents is a marvelous mama cat named Honeybun, who has selflessly fostered countless litters of kittens, even those not of her own fur and blood.

Now, Honeybun had never raised a wild kitten before, but her loving nature knows no bounds. It was a match made in kitty heaven!

Caroline, the president of Spicy Cats, shared her excitement, exclaiming, “She’s very, very maternal and patient, so we knew she’d be perfect for the bobkitten.” And let me tell you, dear readers, being in Honeybun’s presence worked wonders for the bobcat kitten’s broken heart. The healing powers of love in action!

Watching the adorable duo together is enough to melt the hardest of hearts. Caroline couldn’t contain her joy, stating, “It totally warms my heart to see them together. As far as we know, this hasn’t been tried before, so it was a bit of a gamble, but I’m thrilled they are doing so great.”

Now, here’s the scoop. Honeybun, being a domesticated cat, won’t be able to teach the bobcat kitten the survival skills needed in the wild. So, her role as a foster mom is temporary. When the time is right, the bobcat kitten will be placed with another bobcat at the Millstone Wildlife Center, where she’ll have the opportunity to reach her full potential.

Hold on to your tails, because here’s the exciting part: Come springtime, the Millstone team is planning a triumphant release for this wild-hearted beauty!

With a bit of luck, our bobcat friend will thrive in her natural habitat, leaving the sad circumstances of her rescue far behind. All thanks to the boundless love and compassion of a remarkable cat named Honeybun.

Caroline couldn’t help but gush about the duo, exclaiming, “They’re definitely a cute pair!” And oh, how right she is. This unlikely friendship between a wild bobcat and a big-hearted domesticated cat is a testament to the incredible connections that can form between different species.

So, let’s all raise a paw in honor of Honeybun and the bobcat kitten, as we eagerly await the day when this courageous little bobcat will conquer the wild with a heart full of love and a spirit as wild as can be.
