There was an elderly man who found it tough to take care of himself and his beloved cat, Sinbad. Unfortunately, due to his owner’s situation, Sinbad was left to his own devices and left to suffer.
Thankfully, a utility worker came across the feline and quickly alerted the anti-cruelty society. “Sinbad came into our shelter…the man wasn’t able to care for himself very well, and that was evident in Sinbad’s condition,” said one of the rescuers.
When the rescuers arrived, they were stunned to see that Sinbad had five pounds of matted fur on his body, causing him to drag his coat like a carpet.
It took the shelter workers more than four hours to remove the years of matted fur. “When the fur was shaved off, it weighed more than half of his body weight,” they said.
Despite everything he’d been through, Sinbad was very cooperative throughout the process, as if he knew that they were helping him.
However, it wasn’t all good news for the poor kitty. Due to the lack of use, Sinbad’s back legs had atrophied, and he needed special care.
Thankfully, a kind-hearted man named Elliot Serrano took Sinbad home to foster him. His initial plan was to find Sinbad a new home, but he fell in love with the kitty and decided to keep him for himself.
“I’m just astounded at how he just loves people, even though people haven’t always treated him very well. It’s a lesson we could all learn,” said Elliot.
Three years have passed since then, and Sinbad is now a happy kitty with a regular life, all thanks to the care and kindness of his new owner. The story of Sinbad is a reminder of the love and loyalty that animals can show, even in the face of adversity.
