A cat named Gianna found herself in a unique situation, raising kittens from two different litters. Thankfully, Best Friends Felines, a cat rescue in Brisbane, AU, stepped in to help. Gianna, a Lynx-point cat, was rescued along with four kittens, ranging in age from one week to five weeks old.
Best Friends Felines provided a foster home for Gianna and her blended family. Despite Gianna’s health issues, including a urinary tract infection, she continued to care for the kittens, ensuring they were fed and clean. With medical attention, Gianna’s health improved, and she finally got the care she needed.
“Some of the kittens were affected by Calicivirus, but with treatment, they are on the road to recovery,” shared Nikki from Best Friends Felines. “Gianna’s true personality started to shine once she felt safe. She loves head boops, brushing sessions, belly rubs, and purring all the while.”
Gianna’s kittens, including Massimo and Machiavelli, are thriving, with the smaller ones, Luca and Giulia, progressing well with bottle feeding.
With the support of volunteers, this blended feline family is thriving. Gianna, in particular, is incredibly affectionate, enjoying moments of relaxation away from her kittens. Her room is filled with contented purrs, a testament to the love and care she and her kittens have received.
