Meet Tallulah, the torbie cat who found a lifeline at Best Friends Felines (BFF), a cat rescue in Brisbane, AU, just three weeks before the New Year. Pregnant and in need of urgent rescue, Tallulah was taken in by a volunteer until BFF arranged a permanent carer.
Surprisingly, Tallulah gave birth the day after arriving at her new abode, catching everyone off guard. Although one kitten didn’t make it, the rest of the litter showed signs of improvement after treatment for a stomach bug.
However, Tallulah’s health took an unexpected turn. A few days after giving birth, she became frail and couldn’t fulfill her mommy duties. Elke, a dedicated volunteer, stepped in to care for the kittens while Tallulah received medical attention.
Tallulah faced a severe abdominal infection that required surgery, and during her hospitalization, Elke provided around-the-clock bottle feeding to the kittens. After surgery, Tallulah returned to her kittens, albeit without milk.
Given the choice, Tallulah enthusiastically reunited with her babies, and Elke continued assisting in their care. Gradually, Tallulah’s milk production returned, marking a joyous moment as she successfully nursed her three kittens independently.
Now, Tallulah and her babies are thriving in their foster home. Despite the uncertainties just a few weeks ago, Tallulah’s story is one of healing, love, and the tireless efforts of the BFF team.
