Meet Hampton, the Persian cat with a story that’ll warm your heart. Hampton was a cat on a mission, seeking attention outside a Hampton Inn. But he was ready to bid farewell to his outdoor adventures.
Hampton had quite the tale to tell. This fluffy, long-haired Persian wasn’t cut out for the wild life, yet somehow, he found himself homeless and alone.
As he meowed pitifully at passersby, he made it clear that he wanted to be rescued. “He went right up to people for food and pets and clearly just wanted to be saved,” said Caitie’s Foster Fam. Some kind-hearted souls visiting town knew they couldn’t just walk by.
They turned to social media, hoping to find help for Hampton. Claudia, a foster volunteer from Caitie’s Foster Fam, saw the post and sprang into action.
“I hopped in my car and drove there in less than 20 minutes. When I first saw Hampton, I was concerned for his health status,” Claudia told us.
His once luxurious fur was now severely matted, pulling on his skin. Fleas and dirt covered him, and he had patches of missing fur. “It looked like someone had attempted to help him out at some point and then stopped halfway through the process (or he likely ran away from them). He was miserable and his skin was very tender and sensitive. On top of all of this, he was very skinny.”
Claudia managed to scoop him up from the parking lot and placed him in a cat carrier for the journey to safety.
Hampton, named after the hotel where he was found, was initially nervous. But as he stepped into a place he’d longed for—a roof over his head with food and comfort—he realized his street life was finally over.
“He realized I was here to help, and he really let it sink in that his street life was finally over, especially the moment he realized he has his very own litter box,” Claudia shared with us.
Hampton embraced his new life with enthusiasm, as if he’d been waiting for this moment for ages. He began to relax and even gave his foster mom approving slow-blinks.
Hampton was estimated to be around 4-5 years old. After a much-needed spa day, complete with a cute lion cut, he seemed happy and relieved.
Claudia was there every step of the way, ensuring that Hampton never lacked love and care.
After a couple of weeks of healing, Hampton’s health improved, and his personality shone through. “Hampton has put some weight on. His fur is growing back after getting groomed. He wakes up ready to start his day full of food and naps,” Claudia said.
Living with other animals, enjoying stringy toys, napping by the window, and relishing cuddles became Hampton’s new routine.
After his rough days roaming the streets, Hampton now cherishes every moment in the loving comfort of his human and fur friends.
