Meet Lila, the kitty who took her bathroom obsession to a whole new level! When Maddie Swigart and her family adopted Lila from the Nebraska Humane Society, they had no clue about her peculiar fascination with water.
Turns out, Lila’s favorite spot in the house was the bathroom, and her water fascination? It was real. “She has been intrigued with playing in the toilet for about six months now, I would say,” Maddie shared, shaking her head in amusement. “She’s not your typical cat; she’s got this strange obsession with water. Ever since she could jump up on the toilet, she found it fun to dip her paws into the water.”
Now, the Swigart family adored Lila, but they weren’t thrilled with her toilet adventures. They would constantly find the toilet seat wet, thanks to Lila’s water escapades. Maddie even had to clean up after her when guests were around, all because of that mischievous kitty!
So, what did Maddie do? She put up a sign in the bathroom that read: “Please put the lid down so the damn cat doesn’t play in the water lol.” Yes, you read that right – a sign just for Lila!
The next time Lila strolled into the bathroom and saw the sign, she gave Maddie the sassiest look imaginable. “I laughed so hard,” Maddie said, recalling the moment. “Lila has such a smart but sassy personality. I could just picture her thinking, ‘What the heck, Mom?’”
Miraculously, the sign worked – well, sort of. The lid now stays closed whenever the toilet isn’t in use. But determined little Lila hasn’t given up. She stares at you while you’re using the toilet and tries to beat you to it before the lid goes down! “Whenever I flush and the lid is down, she hops on top of the lid and tries to swat at it as if she could somehow get it open. She’s such a character!”
Honestly, Lila deserves a perfect 10 for her persistence, don’t you think? Cats really do know how to keep life interesting!
