Say hello to Emika and Kokoro!
These two amazing cat moms, along with the help of some compassionate people, took on the challenge of caring for six kittens – a true blended family story!
When Best Friends Felines, a cat rescue in Brisbane, AU, received a plea for help about two cat mothers and their kittens, they immediately stepped in. “When a social worker urgently calls for help, you make room,” shared Best Friends Felines.
The blended family consisted of six kittens, each born just about five days apart. Emika, the snowshoe, and Kokoro, the black tortie, took turns caring for their adorable brood right from the start.
Renae, a foster carer, opened her heart and home to this feline family of eight. She provided a cozy nursery and ensured there was plenty of food for the two moms to enjoy throughout the day.
Renae marveled at the unique bond between Emika and Kokoro. “For the first time ever, I have two mothers caring for two litters together. It’s heartwarming,” she shared.
Both moms diligently watched over their kittens, keeping them well-fed and squeaky clean. As the kittens grew older, their energy levels soared, much to the amusement of Emika and Kokoro.
Emika devoted most of her time to the kittens, while Kokoro took short breaks to recharge. Renae observed, “Emika is the epitome of devotion, never straying far from her babies.”
When mealtime arrived, the kittens eagerly awaited Renae’s arrival, ready to pounce at the first sight of food. Their playful antics brought joy and laughter to Renae’s home.
As the kittens grew more independent, Emika and Kokoro gradually stepped back from their motherly duties. They began to enjoy more quality time with their humans, seeking affection and cozy naps.
Introducing them to the resident cats revealed Emika’s friendly nature and Kokoro’s sassy charm. Renae noted, “Koko likes to pretend she owns the place.”
Despite the challenges, Emika and Kokoro did an incredible job raising their kittens. As the kittens found loving homes, Emika and Kokoro embraced their well-deserved retirement.
Thanks to their second chance, these kittens never had to worry about food or shelter. Now, they’re thriving in their forever homes, while Emika and Kokoro bask in the love of their new families.
