Ash, the cute adopted cat, has an unusual habit that her new family discovered a month after adopting her: she really hates it when her parents are asleep.
Instead of accepting this, Ash tries everything she can to get her parents to give up on sleep altogether, and this has been going on for almost a year now.
Her tactics vary depending on who she’s targeting.
According to Lauren, Ash’s mom, “For me, she mews in my face and lays on top of me. Rarely she will swat my face. For my boyfriend, she does tend to swing at him more but rarely leaves a mark. But her preferred method is scream-meowing until one of us wakes up.”
Ash is incredibly determined and won’t give up until one of her parents wakes up and acknowledges her presence. As a compromise, she also tries to join them in bed for intermittent naps but always chooses the most inconvenient spots possible.
To find some humor in their sleep loss, Ash’s parents set up a camera to record her late-night antics.
Lauren posted the footage online, and the response was overwhelmingly positive.
“Comments have ranged from, ‘You need a bigger bed for that cat to have some room,’ ‘My cat/dog does that too,’ to ‘She’s not waking you up, you two are waking her up,'” Lauren said.
Despite being more tired since adopting Ash, her parents wouldn’t change her for anything and are glad she brings joy to people all over the world.
