Let me tell you about Ricky, a feral cat who found herself in the most heartwarming situation. It all started when Karly Saltarski, cofounder of Salty Animal Rescue, received a call about a young cat mom and her newborn kittens in need of help.
The property owners had heard tiny cries coming from their garage, and they soon discovered that Ricky had given birth. Being feral, she needed rescuing, and her little ones were hiding in the roof storage area.
Without hesitation, Karly and the homeowners worked together to bring Ricky and her two kittens to safety. From that moment on, Ricky’s life took a complete turn.
At first, Ricky was terrified of humans. She would hiss and keep her kittens close, protecting them as any good mother would. But despite her fear, there wasn’t a mean bone in her body.
Karly knew she had to gain Ricky’s trust and show her that humans could be kind. She provided Ricky with all the space and care she needed, patiently waiting for the day Ricky would feel safe.
As the kittens grew, they waddled towards Karly, seeking attention and pets. Watching her kittens interact with their foster mom, Ricky started to realize that people weren’t so bad after all.
Slowly but surely, Ricky warmed up to Karly. She allowed pets and even enjoyed head scritches, melting into Karly’s hand as she received love and care.
“The progress she’s made is huge. This means she will get to live a happy life as a house kitty once her babies are raised and she’s been fully vetted,” Karly shared, thrilled with Ricky’s transformation.
Ricky turned out to be a phenomenal mom to her playful kittens, Bubbles and Julian. As they reached their milestones, Ricky became more relaxed and trusting around her foster family.
Now that her kittens are growing and thriving, Ricky enjoys some well-deserved “me-time” as an indoor cat. Bubbles and Julian are growing mischievous and adventurous, spreading joy all around.
