You won’t believe this, but there’s a rescue cat in Wisconsin that’s straight out of a magical fantasy!
Meet Gandalf, the cat who’s living up to his name, chosen by his owner Rebekah a year ago. She named him after the bearded wizard from The Lord of the Rings movies, and little did she know how perfectly that name would suit him.
Gandalf’s journey started when Rebekah adopted him from a local animal shelter in Park Falls, Wisconsin. And recently, she shared a before-and-after photo of him on a Subreddit.
Just like the legendary wizard, Gandalf has grown what looks like a long, white beard – his fur flows in luxurious locks from his neck all the way down past his chest.
Reddit users couldn’t get enough of this magical feline. Within the first 19 hours, more than 22,000 people upvoted the post, and over 160 left comments.
Some folks just couldn’t resist making a few Lord of the Rings references:
“Those eyes are mesmerizing. I would follow him into Moria.”
“A wizard is never late, he arrives precisely when he means to.”
“Listen to me very carefully: I don’t like cats, but that is the most magnificent looking cat I have ever seen. May he live a long and happy life.”
“I made my husband guess the cat’s name… And he got it right. Very much suits him.”
Rebekah also chimed in, revealing the story behind Gandalf’s name: “He’s acted like an old man since we first met him. The beard just confirmed it.”
Truly, Gandalf the cat is a magical addition to the world of adorable pets.
