Meet Bean the cat – she’s got a new home now, but getting there was quite the adventure! Despite her occasionally grumpy look, Bean is actually a sweetheart, as her new owner, Francisca Franken, discovered.
Francisca was on the hunt for a furry companion and stumbled upon Bean’s photo on an animal shelter’s website. She recalled, “I saw her photo and fell in love the second I saw her. Well, at first I laughed because the pictures were so funny and I’d never seen a cat like this before.”
Excited but anxious, Francisca wasted no time and reached out to the shelter to inquire about Bean. The suspense was real, with Francisca losing sleep over the fear that Bean might already have found a home. Fortunately, the shelter called her back the next day.
Describing the call, Francisca shared, “I got a call from a friendly lady from the rescue who asked me if Bean was really the cat I wanted to apply for because, apparently, nobody had been interested in her before.”
It turns out Bean’s unique appearance, with her stubby legs and grumpy expression, hadn’t caught the eye of many potential adopters. But for Francisca, it was love at first sight.
Before her rescue, Bean lived as a stray and faced health challenges, including an eye infection. Despite these hardships, Francisca couldn’t comprehend why some people found Bean “ugly.” To her, seeing Bean brought tears of joy.
Now comfortably settled into her new home, Bean has some quirky habits. One of her obsessions? Olives! Francisca shared a funny incident, saying, “The first time she stole an olive was when I had a little late-night snack, and she ran up to me and smacked the olive right out of my hand, scooped it up, and ran away to eat it under the couch.”
Bean, once misunderstood and overlooked, is thriving in her new environment, especially with a loving owner like Francisca. The two share their daily adventures on Instagram, where Bean has garnered quite the following – over 5,600 followers and counting!
