Get ready for a heartwarming tale about a kitten foster mom, Nikki Martinez, and her latest challenge – a hissy, feral kitten named Raggedy Ann.
Nikki is a pro when it comes to caring for neonatal and critical care kitties, so when she was asked to foster Raggedy Ann, she knew she was up for the challenge.
The little black and white furball had never been around people before and needed to be socialized.
But, as Nikki put it, “once she had broken down the barrier, she would have a lovely kitten in her care.”
At first, Raggedy Ann was not having it.
She hissed and hid in the blankets, wanting nothing to do with Nikki.
But Nikki was patient and created a cozy space for the little grump to feel secure. She spoke to her often so she would get used to her voice, and after a few days, progress was being made.
Nikki was able to touch her and even heard a few purrs!
Then came the time for a bath.
Raggedy Ann was a little dirty and her hair was matted, so it was important to clean her up and another step in socializing her.
But Nikki had done this many times before, and as a rescue mom, she’s a bit of an expert in giving kittens a proper bath with cat shampoo.
After the bath, it was time for a good brushing, and to Nikki’s surprise, Raggedy Ann loved it!
She even started purring and moving closer to her foster mom.
Things were really moving forward now, and Raggedy Ann even climbed onto Nikki’s lap.
