Fraser Booth had autism, making it hard for him to interact with others and live a “normal” life. His mom, Louise, was at her wits’ end trying to find a way to help her son cope.
But then, in a moment of feline fate, they met Billy, a rescue cat who would change everything. Billy sensed something special in Fraser and their friendship began to bloom.
Louise was blown away as she watched her son engage with Billy in ways she never thought possible. “It was unbelievable to see our boy interacting, engaging with something. We could just see the tension falling away from him.”
The bond between Fraser and Billy was unspoken but complete. Billy was able to do what Louise couldn’t – he calmed Fraser down when he was stressed and showed him how to climb stairs when he was afraid.
Louise even says, “More people should consider cats as therapy for people with special needs. Billy is a very special cat and our life wouldn’t be the same without him.”
Thanks to Billy, Fraser is now attending a mainstream school, defying his diagnosis. And Louise has even written a book, “When Fraser met Billy,” sharing their heartwarming story.
So the next time you hear someone talking about the amazing things that guide dogs and disability dogs can do, remember Billy the cat and the immeasurable difference he made in Fraser’s life.
