Let me introduce you to Uno, a precious kitten who had a tough start in life but found her forever home filled with love. Uno was born outside to a feral cat and was separated from her mother too early, leaving her neglected and in need of rescue. Thankfully, Marlena, the founder of Be Their Voice Animal Rescue in Atlanta, GA, came to her rescue.
When Marlena first saw Uno, she was just skin and bones, covered in dirt, and very hungry. They rushed her to their rescue home, where she immediately latched onto a friend’s hand, seeking comfort and nourishment. Uno was a hungry little ball of fur and eagerly consumed 30 ounces of kitten formula within the first 20 minutes of being rescued.
But Uno’s hunger wasn’t just for food. She yearned for constant companionship and would cry out when left alone even for a moment. As soon as her people returned, she would climb their legs with her tiny claws, seeking their attention and affection. Despite her small size, Uno had a strong purr motor and made sure her presence was known.
Though nursing kittens thrive best with their cat mother, Uno’s situation called for intervention, and luckily a Good Samaritan sought help for her. Uno found solace in sleeping on her people’s shoulders, chest, or in their arms, finding comfort and security in their presence. She would suckle on her foster mom’s ears or face and cling to her after every meal, knowing she was loved.
Uno became a true clinger and attention seeker, following her people everywhere and asking to be picked up and cradled like a baby. Being held made her feel safe and content, and she would quickly fall asleep in their arms. As her stomach issues resolved and she learned to eat from a dish, Uno grew in size and energy. She became a confident, brave, and adventurous little kitty, taking on toys twice her size and hopping around the room with boundless energy.
To help her overcome her single-kitten syndrome, Uno socialized with other foster kittens and formed a special bond with Tess the tabby. They became inseparable, as if they had always been littermates. When the time came for adoption, Uno and Tess found their forever home together. Later on, they welcomed another rescue kitten named Bessie, completing their happy crew.
Uno has grown into a beautiful calico cat and her forever mom describes her as a princess who has become a leader among her feline siblings. She still likes to suckle, but now she has a blankie for comfort. Uno’s resilience and will to live have left a lasting impression on Marlena, who is grateful for the opportunity to have rescued her.
Uno’s journey is a testament to the power of love and care.
