Imagine a tiny kitten who went from being all alone in a scorching backyard to living a life of luxury as a pampered feline. Lavender, as she’s now known, had quite the journey.
Haley Waugh, the Public Information Coordinator at Front Street Animal Shelter in Sacramento, California, shared the heartwarming tale. Lavender was discovered when her mom and siblings mysteriously vanished.
There she was, a few weeks old, lying on her back in sweltering 100+ degree weather. Concerned for her well-being, someone reached out to the shelter for help.
With her future hanging in the balance, Lavender needed round-the-clock care and feeding. It was clear that this pint-sized fluff-ball had a feisty personality from the start. “She was a little confused by all the new people and smells, so she was hissing and spitting for the first day,” Haley revealed.
After some much-needed TLC and nourishment, Lavender began to adjust to her new surroundings. Don’t let her small size fool you – she wasn’t shy about expressing herself with her tiny claws and playful swats.
Knowing the dedication required to care for Lavender, the shelter staff found the perfect person for the job. Haley, who had recently experienced some difficult losses with her previous fosters, instantly felt a connection with the little furball. “One of my coworkers walked over and held her up in front of me. I knew I was taking her home to foster instantly,” Haley recalled.
And so, Lavender found herself cradled in Haley’s front pocket, nestled in her overalls. The proximity to her foster mom’s heart instantly calmed her down. From that moment on, Lavender realized that Haley was there to provide food, care, and endless love.
In just a short time, Lavender has made remarkable progress. She eagerly responds to Haley’s voice, wiggles her ears while devouring her bottle, and has grown sweeter and more affectionate each passing day. Haley cherishes every moment with Lavender, from the early morning cries for food to the contented purrs as she drifts off to sleep.
With Haley as her guide, Lavender is blossoming into a confident and curious kitten. She’s always exploring her surroundings, paying close attention to Haley’s every move. Not only is Lavender gaining weight, but her fluffiness is also on the rise. As she matures, she’s expected to transform into a lovely grey cat with tufts of fur in her ears.
For now, Lavender revels in the constant attention and nurturing she receives. She’s the center of attention, a little bundle of joy that brings happiness to everyone around her. Lavender’s story is one of resilience, love, and the incredible transformation that can occur when a tiny creature finds a caring home.
