Eggnog the kitten is a little warrior who has never missed a meal since the day he was rescued as a hungry orphaned baby. Emilie Rackovan, an animal rescuer based in Milwaukee, WI, received a call about this dilute orange kitten who ended up alone due to an eviction and had trouble eating from a bottle.
When Emilie arrived to pick him up, she was taken aback by his condition. “He was cold, thin, unkempt, infested with fleas, and had thick discharge coming from his nose and eyes,” she shared.
During their ride home, Eggnog was vocal, screaming at the top of his tiny lungs. However, everything changed when he latched onto a bottle – he devoured the kitten formula like there was no tomorrow.
“Since bringing him home, he hasn’t missed a single meal,” Emilie said. With proper care, Eggnog’s body began to heal, and he got rid of the pesky fleas.
As his upper respiratory infection cleared, Eggnog’s vigor for feeding increased. After two weeks in foster care, he achieved significant milestones, including eating independently from a dish. Even though fully weaned, he insisted on having his daily formula as snacks.
“Eggnog would like everyone to know that even though he is fully weaned and has been for a little while, he’s still very much a baby,” Emilie emphasized.
As his personality blossomed, Eggnog sought a playmate and was introduced to resident cats for socialization. He’s a bundle of energy, playing and scampering around until he tires out. His voracious appetite and love for treats keep him on his tiptoes, reaching for every delicious bite.
From a starving, weak, and infested kitten, Eggnog transformed into a chonky, healthy, and thriving feline. Now, he spends his days hanging out with feline friends, supervising his humans, and creating mischief with infectious joy.
