In Crystal, North Dakota, a tragic house fire occurred, taking the lives of a cat named Sage, just ten months old, and two hamsters. The incident could have been even more devastating if not for Sage’s brave actions.

While the family slept, Sage sensed the danger and woke up ten-year-old Kassidee Gallaway by gently pawing at her face. Kassidee, in turn, managed to wake up her brother and parents, allowing them to escape the flames.

“It smelled like burnt pizza. It was really hot in my room,” recalled Kassidee, describing the horrifying experience.

Although the family survived, they lost all their belongings and tragically, Sage did not make it out of the fire. The brave kitten, adopted just a month earlier, was hailed as a hero by the Hoople Fire Department. A memorial card was created in Sage’s honor, stating, “She was truly one of us.”

In response to the devastating loss, friends and family have rallied together to support the affected family. They set up a GoFundMe donation page, which has already raised over $9,000. The community’s generosity aims to help the family rebuild their lives after the heartbreaking incident.
