Get ready for a heartwarming tale about a little stray kitty who found his furrever home, thanks to the help of some kind humans.
Meet Sidney, the timid tabby who was found as a stray and terrified of humans.
Luckily, animal rescuer Eva from Brooklyn, New York pulled him from the euthanasia list and handed him over to Stephanie, a fosterer of Big City Little Kitty, to help socialize him.
Stephanie shared, “He showed potential when I met him, so I gave it a shot. He was the most fearful kitten I have ever socialized, but he came around. It was worth it.”
In the beginning, Sidney didn’t want to be touched and was too afraid. So, Stephanie decided to use a baby spoon to feed him, and he began to show his first sign of trust.
“After a few meals, I could pet him while he ate,” Stephanie wrote. “Now that I can use food as a motivator, we’ll be moving right along.”
However, Sidney still needed some space and security, so Stephanie gave him a trap to hide in, which seemed to calm him down.
Stephanie added, “He allowed me to pet him if my face and body were on the other side of the trap.”
But Sidney’s true weakness was belly rubs. Stephanie shared, “From the beginning, he was a sucker for a belly rub.” Over time, with food and play bribery, Sidney started to come around, and allowed Stephanie to pet him out in the open.
After a month, Sid finally came out of the bathroom and made himself right at home. Stephanie’s words, “He fit right in, and his mama told me it’s like he’d always been there, and belonged there. Life is now just one long Caturday morning for this kid. I just can’t express my happiness and gratitude.”
Now, Sidney is a happy and affectionate kitty.
Sidney’s story reminds us that with patience, love, and kindness, any animal can find their furrever home.
