A little kitten with twisted legs made her way to the Friends for Life Rescue Network in sunny Los Angeles, hoping for a brighter future.

And here she is, meet Quill!

“Quill was born with contracted ligaments and tendons in both front wrists, causing her legs to twist,” explained Jacqueline DeAmor, the founder of the rescue.

Lending a helping paw, Mel and Zane Lamprey, volunteer foster parents for the rescue, eagerly stepped up to care for this tiny feline. They decided to name her Quill, and they quickly discovered that she was an instant cuddle enthusiast.

Right away, they began her physical therapy journey, hoping to work some magic on her twisted legs. Jacqueline elaborated, “Her wrists are warmed up with a cat heating pad. They are then massaged and stretched to relax the tendons and ligaments in hopes of re-aligning the growing bones.”

In the near future, Quill will receive weekly splints, which should further enhance her range of motion. But you know what? She’s a total champ, taking all these challenges in stride. In her eyes, she’s just like any other kitten.

This little chocolate-colored bundle of fur has mastered the art of getting plenty of cuddles from her foster parents. Mel gushed, “She’s silly, curious, sweet, and a foster daddy’s girl. She has him wrapped around her tiny fingers.”

And speaking of cuddles, Quill’s favorite spot is her foster dad’s neck. But she’s not all about cuddles; she loves to play and explore, just like any other kitten her age. Yet, her absolute favorite cuddle time is after her evening meal, usually done “purrito style.” Before long, she’s purring herself to sleep in their arms.

Now, here’s the heartwarming part: Mel and Zane have another foster named Chester, whom they nursed back to health from a rough beginning. So, he probably understands what Quill is going through.

Mel shared, “He walked right up and sat next to her like they were best friends.” The two of them formed an instant bond, as if they knew exactly what each other needed. Chester has taken on the role of being Quill’s big brother, and she absolutely adores the time she spends with him. He loves grooming her and is always attentive to her needs.

When Quill first arrived at her foster home, she weighed just 12 ounces. But look at her now – she’s transformed into a full-time cuddle-bug with an incredible personality.

This little fighter has come a long way from the tiny kitten with twisted legs they first met at the shelter. Thanks to the love and care from Mel, Zane, and Chester, Quill has been given a second chance at life, and we hope she enjoys a long and happy journey ahead.
