Meet Jacqueline Santiago, a true animal lover with a heart for helping furry friends in need. She co-founded Friends for Life Rescue Network, a popular animal rescue shelter in Los Angeles, where they work tirelessly to care for animals facing tough circumstances.
One of their special cases was Pinocchio, an adorable kitty with a heartwarming story. Despite his challenging past, Pinocchio arrived at Friends for Life Rescue Network exuding positivity with his purrs.
This resilient kitty had a laundry list of health issues, including a misaligned jaw that gave him a unique sideways smirk and hinted at his struggle with hunger. The dedicated team wasted no time, providing him with two full cans of food upon arrival, which he devoured before finding comfort in a cozy bed.
In just a few days, Pinocchio showed remarkable progress, gaining strength and improving muscle mass. However, his journey was far from over. An examination revealed changes in his chest shape, affecting his breathing. On top of that, he battled an upper-respiratory infection and coped with a painful umbilical hernia.
Given Pinocchio’s tender age of three months, delicate care was crucial during surgery. Post-operation, Jacqueline and the team visited him, and his resounding purrs spoke volumes about his resilience.
While Pinocchio awaited a foster home for a permanent stay, Jacqueline took him under her wing. With a new bed, plush toy, and resolved health issues, Pinocchio’s zest for life was evident. His playful antics and improved well-being showcased the transformation from a vulnerable kitten to a vibrant superhero.
Decked out in a Superman shirt, Pinocchio proudly flaunted his newfound strength. Jacqueline shared, “His spirit is just as it was—a strong, playful, loving sweetheart with the biggest purrs.” Pinocchio’s enthusiasm for life was palpable, making him a VIP in his own right.
Now, with his charming grin and unique face, Pinocchio is sure to find his forever loving home.
