Nicole Rienzie, driving with her mom, had quite the surprise when a tiny black kitten darted in front of their car. In a split second, they hit the brakes and sprung into action.
“He was all dirty, covered in bugs, and super skinny. His eyes were practically sealed shut due to infection,” Nicole shared about their first encounter.
Seeing the kitten’s struggle, they knew they had to help. So, they scooped him up and brought him home, determined to give him a second chance.
Once at home, Monk got the royal treatment – a bellyful of food, a much-needed bath, and loads of TLC. It didn’t take long for this little fighter to regain his strength and show his true colors.
“He was like a whirlwind of energy, always zooming around and ready to play. That’s why we ended up calling him Monk,” Nicole revealed.
And Monk had a unique feature that set him apart: his teeth, particularly his canines, seemed to have a growth spurt of their own. He had a pair of fangs that gave him a rather adorable vampurr look.
“At first, I tried finding him a new home, but it felt like our meeting was just meant to be. I needed him as much as he needed me,” Nicole admitted.
Monk’s long fangs might have raised some questions, but a vet visit confirmed that he was perfectly fine – just a unique kitty with an even more unique smile.

After a year together, Monk’s family expanded when they rescued another black kitty named Bean. Monk and Bean hit it off immediately, forming an inseparable friendship.
