Meet Rosé and Merlot, a pair of calico sisters who went through quite an ordeal together.
They were found in a North Carolina animal shelter without a mother to care for them. Poor little things needed urgent help and lots of love. The shelter reached out to the rescue community, and that’s when Sarah Kelly, founder of Murphy’s Law Animal Rescue, stepped in to save the day.
“When we heard about them, we knew we had to act fast. They were cold and needed immediate care. We rushed to pick them up,” Sarah said with determination.
These tiny calico kitties were weak and fragile, and they required round-the-clock care. Merlot perked up a bit, but Rosé needed extra time to heal. They were hand-reared with love, and little Rosé had to be assisted with tube-feeding to help her get stronger.
But guess what? These sisters are inseparable, and Merlot was always by her sister’s side, offering comfort and support. When Rosé finally started eating on her own, Merlot cheered her on – what a team!
And, boy, did they find their voices! During mealtime, they’d meow at the top of their lungs as if they were food critics. “They haven’t been quiet since, especially Rosé. She is a talkative lady,” Sarah chuckled.
As they grew stronger, their personalities shone through. They turned their playpen into an adventure zone and kept each other company all the time. Tiny but full of sass, they acted as if they were the bosses of the place!
“Merlot is a little love-bug. She’s all about snuggles and attention. And Rosé, oh, she’s feisty and loves to wrestle with her sister,” Sarah explained with a smile.
Despite their rough start, these sweet calicos blossomed into playful and happy young cats. Soon, they’ll be ready to find a forever home where they can bring joy to their new family.
