Tortitude? Yes, it’s a thing.
And it’s what makes tortoiseshell cats famous for their sassy attitudes. But there’s a cat out there who’s proving that there’s more to fame than just attitude.
Meet Gremlin the Blep Cat!
It all started in 2013 when a litter of kittens was found abandoned in a Walgreens parking lot.
Mauren Sparrow was asked by her then-roommate if she wanted to adopt one of the kittens. “One of the kittens had a bit of a weird jaw, but she was very cute,” says Mauren. And that’s how Gremlin, the blep cat, entered Mauren’s life.
Gremlin may have a crooked jaw due to inbreeding, but that hasn’t stopped her from being a happy and healthy cat who loves cuddles, forehead kisses, catnip toys, and special treats.
And Mauren’s love for Gremlin inspired her to adopt more cats. She’s now a proud mom to five rescued cats, including Calcifer, her spicy ginger boy, Jiji, a beautiful fluffy Maine Coon mix, David Rose, whom she says is like a fine wine, and his diva sister, Alexis Rose.
However, having a house full of cats isn’t always purrfect. Mauren recently told We Love Cats and Kittens that the cats have been fighting, leaving the house in a constant state of tension. But Mauren is patient and has made progress in getting them to be good friends, even if they’re not quite there yet.
As for Gremlin, she spends most of her days sleeping and cuddling, using her tongue to blep whenever she wants more attention.
So don’t let just tortitude make you famous – add a little blep into the mix, and you might just become a superstar like Gremlin the Blep Cat!
