In Portland, Oregon, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office recently found themselves facing an unusual situation. A concerned citizen had reported a sighting that raised some eyebrows – a “big cat with ‘spots'” perched on a hill near a busy road.
Now, while it’s not uncommon to spot large cats like cougars in the area, this sighting had a unique twist. According to the caller, the animal in question resembled a cheetah, though it didn’t seem particularly aggressive. The sheriff’s office, intrigued by the report, decided to investigate.
As the officers went on alert, they also reached out to the local zoo to check if they were missing any cheetahs. To their surprise, there were no reports of any escaped cheetahs from the zoo.
With caution in mind, a sheriff’s deputy made his way to the location. Upon arrival, he carefully approached the wooded area where the “cheetah” had been sighted. Employing what he humorously referred to as his “ninja-like skills,” the officer managed to sneak up on the mysterious beast. But here’s where the story takes an unexpected turn – it turned out to be a stuffed animal!
Despite the false alarm, the police were far from displeased. In fact, they expressed their gratitude to the caller for their vigilance and encouraged everyone to report anything unusual or suspicious, even if it turns out to be a harmless stuffed animal.
The amusing incident quickly gained traction on social media, with many amused reactions. Some folks even admitted to initially mistaking the stuffed cheetah for the real deal, proving that appearances can indeed be deceiving.
One commenter noted, “Wow, that looks real from a distance. Fooled me,” while another quipped, “You guys better watch out, those are the most dangerous kind…” Others joined in on the laughter, glad that everyone was safe in the end, and even hoping that the stuffed animal found a new home.
