“He’s been through a lot, you can tell. He’s wary of human touch, but he’s slowly learning to trust again,” Lyd wrote in the captions, shedding light on the cat’s painful history. “Life on the streets hasn’t been easy for him, but he’s rediscovering the warmth of love.”
The Oakland TNR Coalition, an animal rescue organization, shared more details about this resilient five-year-old cat on their Instagram page. When he was found, he was riddled with ticks, wounds, and tested positive for FIV. Despite his hardships, he’s missing a few teeth and a nail, but he hasn’t lost his spirit.
Inspired by his newfound hope, the organization decided to give him a new name, letting their Instagram followers vote on suggestions. The overwhelming favorite? Waffle! It’s a name that suits his sweet, resilient nature perfectly.
