Guess what surprise the TSA found at JFK airport? An unexpected traveler – a sneaky cat who decided to hitch a ride in a checked suitcase! When questioned, the suitcase owner was just as shocked, exclaiming, “This is not my cat!”
The TSA agent made the furry discovery when a tuft of orange fur peeked out from a black suitcase zipper. The suitcase owner, equally baffled, had no clue about the stowaway feline.
Lisa Farbstein, a TSA spokesperson, shared that the agent was taken aback – the kitty had gone through check-in and even an x-ray!
In a twist, it turned out the stowaway belonged to someone in the same house as the traveler. The cat was safely returned home, but the passenger missed his flight, having to reschedule for the next day.
“On the bright side, the cat’s out of the bag and safely back home,” Lisa humorously remarked.
The cat’s owner, talking to The New York Post, revealed that Smells, the adventurous furball, likely sneaked into the suitcase while she was at work. The airport alerted her to the situation, and here’s Smells, patiently awaiting his owner’s reunion.
Even with the unexpected journey, Smells remained remarkably chill. His owner shared, “I was worried he’d be freaked out, but he wasn’t even meowing on the way back. I went to give him some extra treats, and he acted like nothing had happened.”
And to top it off, the TSA added a touch of humor to the situation by tweeting about the incident.
