Hold on to your seats because there’s a heartwarming tale on the internet that’s bound to make you go, “What is that dog doing up there?! Are these two animals best buds?”

Cats and dogs, as we know, have a somewhat complicated relationship. Sometimes they coexist peacefully, while other times, well, it’s a bit more like a sitcom with rivalries aplenty.

But wait, here’s a 12-second video, courtesy of Reddit user sherlock_er, that might just prove that cats and dogs can find common ground, at least for a little while. In this adorable clip, you’ll spot a big orange cat, chilling out on its trusty scratching post.

However, this cat isn’t perched alone; no siree! Sharing this elevated spot is none other than a Dalmatian puppy, cozily snuggled up with the cat. They’re balancing on a space barely big enough to accommodate them both.

The Dalmatian appears content, wagging its tail while giving the camera a friendly glance. At first, the cat seems to tolerate the canine cuddles. It’s like a scene right out of a buddy movie.

But hold your “awws” because things take a little turn. The puppy, with a hint of curiosity, turns its head and sniffs the cat’s neck. And guess what? The feline doesn’t take kindly to this sudden invasion of personal space. It might have been fine with sharing the spot, but nuzzling? Not a chance.

Unless the cat decides to give up its primo position, it’s going to have to tolerate the presence of its furry companion. To add to the cat’s woes, the dog is practically sprawled on top of it!

Reddit users are absolutely loving this clip, aptly titled “Just the bestest of friends for life.” However, not everyone is convinced that these two are the best of pals. One witty user even imagined a little dialogue between the animals: “Dog: You’re my VERY BEST friend. Cat: I’d rather you leave me alone and get off my perch.”

Another user chimed in, acknowledging the cat’s discontent: “Cat’s face is like…Mama, please save me!!”

And then there’s the user who isn’t too interested in their relationship dynamics and has a more pressing question: “I want to know how the dog climbed up there. That pup has great balance.”

But the reality is that as the pup grows, it’ll need to find a more spacious spot to share with the cat. That tiny perch won’t hold both of them forever!
