Now, this man wasn’t exactly a cat person.
He preferred dogs and their enthusiastic wagging tails over the quiet and aloof feline creatures.
However, fate had other plans for him when he stumbled upon Sophie, a tiny white kitten behind a dumpster.
Sophie was smaller than she should have been for her age, and the man quickly realized that she was deaf.
“She does not react to any noise whatsoever. When she’s sleeping or awake. It’s pretty noticeable,” he explained. But instead of being put off by her disability, the man found himself drawn to her intelligence and sweet personality.
“She is deaf but is quite smart. I think she’s converted me,” he proudly proclaimed on Reddit.
And who could blame him? Despite her deafness, Sophie was just as capable and mischievous as any other kitten. She had already stolen her human’s heart.
“I already love her,” he gushed. “She seems really sweet. I took her to the vet because she was really bony and not gaining weight, so suspected worms. I got her some medicine. I hope she recovers. I also have her on some high-calorie food. She only weighs 1.4 pounds and she’s 6 weeks old.”
But it was Sophie’s deafness that really touched the man’s heart.
“It actually makes me like her more for some reason? Maybe I just feel she needs someone,” he mused. And as the saying goes, actions speak louder than words. The man didn’t need to hear Sophie say “I love you” to know that she had already stolen his heart.
