A woman in Carbon County, Pennsylvania had a wild ride of emotions when her cat, Tiny One, went missing. But thanks to some quick thinking and social media, she was reunited with her furry friend.

It all started when the woman, Rachel Barbee, decided to donate her old couch to a local thrift store. Luckily for Tiny One, her friend convinced her to donate the couch instead of taking it to the dump.

As they were driving to the store, they had no idea that Tiny One was hiding inside.

“I was like, just take it to the D.I., you never know. She would have never seen her cat again if she would have taken it to the dump,” said Barbee’s friend, Brittnie Arroyo.

After dropping off the couch, they didn’t hear a peep from Tiny One.

But while checking Facebook later that day, they saw a post from the thrift store with a photo of the couch and a cat on top of it. It was Tiny One! They rushed back to the store to claim her.

“I was like, ‘oh, my gosh, that’s your cat — you have got to call,’” said Arroyo. “Rachel, your cat is at the D.I.”

The thrift store employees were just as surprised as Barbee and Arroyo. They had no idea what to do with the cat, so they posted a photo on Facebook. Within 30 minutes, Barbee saw the post and came to claim Tiny One.

“We usually give people their donation receipt and don’t see them again,” said one employee. “We didn’t know exactly what to think about it or do.”

Despite the craziness of the situation, everyone was relieved that Tiny One was found safe and sound. And it turns out, this isn’t the first time Tiny One has had a survival experience. Barbee found her as a kitten abandoned in the gutter outside of a home. She nursed Tiny One back to health and the cat has been a beloved member of the family ever since.

“We could just not believe it,” said Arroyo. “It was pretty funny.”

This story is a great reminder to always double-check your furniture before getting rid of it, and to never underestimate the power of social media in reuniting lost pets with their owners.
