In Denver, Colorado, a family’s attempt to part ways with their old armchair turned into a feline adventure they never saw coming!
The family decided to donate the comfy recliner to the Denver Arc thrift store during their move. Little did they know, there was a secret tenant tucked away in the furniture. Shortly after the donation, staff members at the thrift store were greeted by mysterious “meowing” sounds emanating from the recliner.
Concerned and curious, they sought the assistance of Denver Animal Protection to unravel the mystery. Officer Jenna Humphreys recounted the discovery, saying, “Sure enough, there’s a recliner out front, and there’s a little orange tabby stuck inside. Very friendly, couldn’t get out.”
With a bit of effort, Officer Humphreys managed to free the trapped cat and scanned for a microchip, but reaching the owners proved challenging. It wasn’t until the cat’s family realized their furry friend was missing that the pieces of the puzzle started coming together.
Upon returning to the thrift store, they were connected with Officer Humphreys, who joyously reunited them with their beloved cat, Montequlla. The relieved owners expressed their thrill at having their furry family member back safe and sound.
“The owners were absolutely thrilled to have their cat back,” shared Humphreys. “They were so relieved.”
It seems this unexpected adventure will serve as a reminder for the family to keep a close eye on their feline friend during future moves. After all, you never know what hidden treasures—or in this case, beloved cats—might be lurking in the furniture!
