Meet Phoebe, the tiny powerhouse of a kitten who faced the world abandoned but is now thriving with a watchful feline friend.

Earlier this month, a calico kitten with a wound on her leg was discovered outside, left in a box in North Philadelphia.

A kind soul brought her to ACCT Philly for help. Erica, a veterinary technician at ACCT Philly, took charge of her care and shared, “It was obvious that there was something wrong with her right hind foot.” After initial cleaning and treatment, the kitten needed a foster home to continue her healing journey.

The calico beauty, now named Phoebe, found comfort at Erica’s place. With a cozy nest and plenty of soft bedding, Phoebe quickly adapted and started making “biscuits” under a warm blanket.

Despite her initial challenges, Phoebe didn’t let anything slow her down. She demanded attention from her foster mom with persistent cries and became an energetic bundle of joy. Erica described, “Every time I came to tend to her, Phoebe would cry for attention and wouldn’t take no for an answer.”

Phoebe’s resilience showed in her daily activities – from climbing onto the couch to attempting leg climbs on her foster mom. Erica marveled at her determination, stating, “She has now decided that trying to climb my legs is today’s activity.”

To keep her company, Erica gifted Phoebe a plushy sloth, and the calico kitten embraced it as her cuddle companion during nap time.

In less than two weeks, Phoebe hit several milestones. She’s using her litter box, growing in size and strength, and has become a skilled climber.

Forest, the resident cat and foster extraordinaire, has taken a liking to Phoebe. Forest, having been in the same situation, rushed to Phoebe’s side during a weight check, showing his caring nature.

Phoebe and Forest now enjoy each other’s company, snuggling and sharing adorable moments. As Erica put it, “Forest adores his new baby, and Phoebe is so much more content now that she has a real cuddle-buddy who makes her feel loved.” This tiny feline, once abandoned, is now the queen of her domain, thriving and surrounded by the warmth of friendship.
