Have you ever heard of animals falling from the sky due to extreme weather conditions? It’s a phenomenon known as “animal rain,” where fish, lizards, and even ants have been known to drop from the sky. But here’s a story that’s truly one of a kind – the tale of a newborn kitten taking a skydive!
This extraordinary incident happened to Kendera White one morning while she was out for a jog. She spotted something falling from the sky, and as she got closer, she realized it was indeed an animal. She rushed to the spot where it landed, and to her astonishment, she found a tiny newborn kitten, still with its eyes tightly shut, lying on the ground.
There was no way Kendera was going to leave this helpless baby behind. Without hesitation, she scooped up the little furball and tucked it safely into her sports bra.
Kendera believed the best course of action was to take the kitten to Matt Smith Vets in Chesterfield, UK. She knew they would provide the care and attention the kitten needed.
“I saw something drop through the air on my left, and then I heard a really high-pitched meow. I’m a bit of a cat freak, so I knew instantly that it was the sound of a kitten,” Kendera explained.
“Then I saw this little grey thing on the floor, no bigger than a golf ball. I thought it’s got to have been a bird of prey, and there’s no way I’m going to be able to find out where he came from.”
At the vet’s office, the tiny ball of fur eagerly drank a full bottle of milk. Unbelievably, despite the fall, the kitten was unharmed, with just a few bruises.
“It’s amazing how he escaped with no broken bones, but when they’re little, they’re very pliable. It was his lucky day!” Kendera exclaimed.
They decided to name the little survivor “Sky,” fittingly, considering his unexpected descent. Sky now resides happily with four other week-old kittens who were once strays themselves.
“We called him Sky because that’s where he came from,” said Sue Crisp, the receptionist at the vet’s. “He’s now got four brothers from another mother, and it’s amazing. They’re chubbier than him and have their eyes open, whereas his are still closed. He’s gorgeous and doing absolutely fine.”
It’s clear that Sky landed in the right hands, quite literally. We’re thrilled to know he’s safe and thriving, and we’re confident he’ll soon find the forever home he deserves.
