When some kind folks feeding a stray cat colony spotted a sweet orange cat with a hurt leg, their hearts went out to him. Seeing his pain, they thought the best solution was to bring him to the vet to be put down. However, veterinarian Dr. Matt McGlasson had different plans.
“My staff knows I have a soft spot for cats — we actually rescued and rehabilitated four kittens during COVID while our kids were doing school from home,” Dr. McGlasson shared.
After a thorough evaluation, Dr. McGlasson decided there was no need to put the cat down. Instead, he aimed to get him healed up and find him the perfect forever home.
With the assistance of his TikTok followers, Dr. McGlasson named the sweet cat Nemo. Though Nemo’s leg was beyond repair and needed amputation, the surgery went well. As Nemo healed, it became evident that he was grateful for the care he received.
“He’s the nicest cat you’d ever meet,” Dr. McGlasson said. “[He] loves everyone.”
While Dr. McGlasson had his own cats at home and couldn’t adopt Nemo, one of the vet technicians fell in love with him and became his forever home.
“[He’s] doing amazing,” Dr. McGlasson said. “Enjoying being a house cat, and he gets around great on three legs.”
Nemo, once a stray in need, now thrives in a loving forever home, thanks to the compassionate care and efforts of those who believed he deserved a chance at a happy life.
