You know, I’ve always found it hard to wrap my head around why some people would abandon helpless animals. They claim to have their reasons, but I often question their motives. It’s clear to me that abandoning animals is not the solution.
Thankfully, there are still rays of hope shining in Damascus for unwanted animals, all thanks to a group of incredibly dedicated individuals. Their heartwarming story revolves around three kittens who were left abandoned on the war-torn streets of Damascus, Syria.
As you can imagine, for most people living in such a challenging environment, rescuing animals wouldn’t be their top priority. They have their own daily struggles to contend with.
But fortunately, Tamara Safaya, during one of her walks through the streets, stumbled upon a cardboard box containing these three helpless kittens.
Now, Tamara is part of a compassionate group of animal lovers who have come together to form an association specifically aimed at rescuing and finding new homes for abandoned and unwanted animals amidst the unrest in Damascus. It’s a makeshift effort, but their dedication knows no bounds.
Once Tamara took the kittens off the streets, she enlisted the help of her friends to find a foster mother who could provide the care and love these little ones desperately needed. That’s when Lulu, a lactating mama cat, stepped in and welcomed the abandoned kittens into her own family.
Tamara paints a vivid picture of their situation, saying, “We are a team of members from Damascus City who are actively involved in rescuing, feeding, and providing medical treatment to any animal in need. Unfortunately, we don’t have a dedicated center or shelter due to limited funding sources.”
She goes on to explain that obtaining a governmental license for their organization has proven to be quite challenging, as the government is preoccupied with other pressing matters. However, their dream and ultimate goal are to establish a proper shelter for animals right there in Damascus.
Thanks to the unwavering love and devotion of these incredible individuals, the three kittens now have names—Lucky, a little boy, and his two sisters, Peace and Sedra. Their lives have been forever changed, and they will have the opportunity to thrive and grow, all because of the compassion and determination of these remarkable people.
It’s stories like these that remind us of the power of compassion and the positive impact we can make in the lives of animals, even in the most challenging of circumstances.
