Katie Hoover moved into an ancient historical home, and like many old houses, it had its fair share of quirks.
But soon, she began hearing strange noises that were getting louder and more consistent. With fear creeping in, she decided to investigate and found something unexpected.
Hoover stumbled upon a sealed box and noticed that it was unsealed.
When she peered inside, a full-grown orange cat was staring back at her!
She quickly placed the feline in a safe, enclosed room away from her two resident cats, Artemis and Apollo, and began her search for the cat’s family.
To her surprise, she found out that the cat was abandoned by its family in the woods behind the house. The brave cat had lived in a woodshed for over a year before Hoover found him.
She knew it was only right to take him in since he had been living in the house longer than her. She named him Murdaugh, after the orange cat from the video game “Stray.”
Murray had a tough time accepting affection at first because he was used to fighting for survival, but as soon as he realized he was safe, he became extremely affectionate.
The final hurdle Murray faced was getting along with his new cat siblings, Artemis and Apollo. It wasn’t easy, but over time, they started accepting him.
Despite everything, Murray still remembers his elderly friend, and Hoover thinks that’s why he feels comfortable sleeping in the guest bedroom where his late dad used to stay.
Now, Murray is enjoying the love, safety, and comfort that comes with having a new home. He is an extremely mischievous and happy house cat once again!
