Here is the tale of a woman whose life was forever changed by a tiny kitten she rescued. This kitten’s transformation was nothing short of extraordinary.
Let me introduce you to Emilie, an animal rescuer and foster carer from Milwaukee, WI. Little did she know that one premature kitten would have such a profound impact on her life.
It all began four months ago when Emilie took in a litter of premature kittens whose feral cat mom had stopped caring for them. Despite her best efforts, only one of the little furballs managed to survive.
This survivor was a small and delicate bundle, but he showed incredible resilience and determination.
Emilie worked tirelessly, providing round-the-clock intensive care. She made sure he had nourishment through tube-feeding and kept him warm in a cozy incubator.
Every time Emilie approached the incubator to feed the kitten, she was greeted by his loud meows, as if he was demanding his food. “Every time I opened the incubator, there he was screaming for food,” Emilie shared.
After five days of dedicated care, the kitten grew strong enough to latch onto a bottle and feed. And so, he was named Fievel, after a mouse from the movie “An American Tail.”
Fievel had a striking silver grey coat with pinkish white mittens on all fours, a unique feature known as a fever coat. As he grew older, his coat started to change, with white pigmentation and darkening of the roots.
Despite being a preemie, Fievel didn’t let anything hold him back. He quickly found his feet and began exploring his surroundings with boundless energy. It was as if he had springs on his feet, hopping around in every direction.
Fievel developed a big personality and a fearless attitude. He became a mentor to other foster kittens, showing them how to be brave. He zoomed through the house as if he owned it, spreading joy and mischief wherever he went.
A foster cat named Persephone took Fievel under her wing, caring for him as if he were her own. She showered him with love and attention, recognizing his fragility.
As Fievel grew into a young cat, his tuxedo coloring became more prominent. At four months old, he had transformed into a handsome black tuxedo with four white socks and a distinguished mustache.
Emilie couldn’t believe the difference in his appearance. She said, “I’m still in shock at how different he looks now. He’s really growing into the most dapper of gentleman.”
Fievel became Emilie’s constant companion, greeting her with purrs, seeking her out when she was nearby, and responding to his name whenever she called. Their bond grew stronger each day.
Although Fievel was initially supposed to be adopted by Emilie’s brother, it became clear that he had found his forever home. His love for Emilie’s fosters and his nurturing nature made it clear that he was meant to stay.
“Fievel was adopted by me. Sometimes, you just can’t let them go, and he’ll be the best ‘big brother’ to so many orphaned kittens. I’m so grateful he came into my life, and that he’s staying with me for good,” Emilie revealed.
