Rachel had been on a mission to adopt a cat, tirelessly scouring lists of felines in kill shelters. When she stumbled upon Jon Snow, something clicked.
“He was obviously in really bad shape, but I couldn’t get him out of my head,” shared Rachel. Despite warnings from the shelter that he might not make it and the potential financial strain, Rachel was determined to be Jon Snow’s savior.
Picking him up from the shelter, Jon Snow was huddled in an uncomfortable wire cage, untouched food in front of him. It was a heartbreaking sight, but Rachel wasted no time, swiftly completing paperwork and rushing him to the emergency vet.
On the way, weak but determined, Jon Snow showed gratitude to his newfound mom. “He did try to get up and walk out of his carrier…he meowed when he couldn’t see me through the mesh, and he kept staring at me,” recounted Rachel.
The vet’s diagnosis was grim—multiple infections, including feline coronavirus and feline herpesvirus. The possibility of fatal feline infectious peritonitis loomed. Undeterred, Rachel insisted on treatment, defying the vet’s suggestion to put him down.
Rachel’s daily visits to Jon Snow in the hospital worked wonders. Against the odds, Jon Snow improved each day. Miraculously, on the fifth day, all tests returned normal. The vet, astonished, admitted they had never seen such a recovery. Jon Snow had defied the prognosis and emerged victorious.
Today, Jon Snow is the picture of health, bursting with energy, playfulness, and a penchant for following Rachel wherever she goes. “He’s the best cat,” beams Rachel. “He has such a personality. He’s crazy, he runs around like a maniac and climbs his cat tower at light speed.”
Jon Snow’s gratitude is evident as he sleeps on Rachel’s pillow every night. Rachel reflects, “I’m so blessed by him. He makes my life a million times happier.”
