Laila D’Souza was on her way home one day when she took a wrong turn on a highway. But little did she know that this detour would lead her to something extraordinary.
As she was driving, Laila spotted a tiny little kitten bravely trying to navigate through the busy traffic. Thank goodness, the little furball managed to stop at the emergency lane. Laila couldn’t just leave the poor thing there, so she pulled over and rushed to check on the kitten.
“He somehow dodged all the cars and was running for his life even though he was exhausted,” Laila shared. The frightened kitten sprinted under her car to hide, and it was quite a struggle to get him out of there.
But Laila’s determination paid off. With the help of a kind man who stopped to assist, they finally discovered the kitten clinging onto her car from underneath. Can you believe it? He had held on for dear life!
Laila, who runs an animal rescue called the Winston Memorial Foundation in Kuwait, sensed there was something special about this little survivor. She named him Hitch and took him to the vet for a checkup. Miraculously, he wasn’t hurt, just really scared.
Once Hitch settled into Laila’s care, things started to change. With a safe place to call home, a cozy bed, and delicious food, the fear in his eyes began to fade away. “He warmed up each day with some TLC and slowly started trusting humans,” Laila said.
As he gained confidence, Hitch transformed into an attention-seeking, affectionate little fellow. He purred like a champion, and whenever he wanted something, he’d chirp and squeak until he got it. Talk about being vocal!
Hitch’s playful side emerged when he got to interact with other foster kittens. He made friends with them effortlessly, and it was a joy to see him zoom around the house without a care in the world.
And guess what? When he was ready for adoption, Hitch traveled all the way from Kuwait to Washington DC to find his forever home with a feline sibling. Life really worked its magic, and he found his happily ever after.
Laila’s journey with Hitch proves that sometimes, taking a wrong turn can lead to the most amazing experiences. It truly took a village to rescue and nurture this little furball, but now he’s living his best life with a loving family.
