There was a lion who was rescued as an adorable cub by Vicky Keahey, the founder of Texas’ In-Sync Exotic Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center.
This lion, who was named Lambert, was illegally purchased by a family after watching the famous movie ‘The Lion King’.
However, after a few months, the family decided that they no longer wanted him and contacted the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS).
Luckily, Keahey was more than happy to take care of Lambert, who was born in captivity and couldn’t be released back into the wild.
When Lambert first arrived at the rescue center, he appeared very curious and excited. But then he started to pace and showed signs of anxiety.
Keahey decided to give him a blanket, and he curled up on it and went straight to sleep.
Since that day, Lambert has become obsessed with blankets and not a single night goes by that he sleeps without one. Staff at the rescue center enjoy providing him with fresh, warm blankets to curl up with.
In addition to his love of blankets, Lambert also enjoys skateboarding! As a cub, he would play with plastic supply tubs and scoot them along the ground like he was skateboarding. One of the volunteers at the rescue center built him an actual skateboard, and sure enough, Lambert put both of his feet on it and started skating around on it.
Now that Lambert has turned two years old, he is still quite content just curling up in warm fresh blankets. Keahey also taught Lambert how to eat raw meat, something which he had never done before arriving at the rescue facility.
Although he may be king of the jungle, Lambert’s obsession with blankets and skateboarding makes him a unique and adorable lion. As Keahey said, “He may be a lion, but he loves his blankets.”
